
Southwest Airlines Flight Canceled After Attempting to Take Off from Taxiway
A Southwest Airlines flight was canceled at Orlando International Airport on Thursday morning after the aircraft attempted to take off from a taxiway instead of the designated runway.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. local time when the air traffic controller canceled the takeoff clearance for Southwest Airlines Flight 3278, which was bound for Albany, New York.
The FAA stated that the aircraft began its takeoff roll on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, but no other aircraft were involved in the incident.
Southwest Airlines confirmed that the plane stopped safely on the taxiway after the crew mistook it for the nearby runway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The airline is cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA to investigate the circumstances surroundingĀ theĀ incident.
