
Pedestrian Killed in Deliberate Act on I-271 in Macedonia, Ohio
Macedonia, Ohio – A fatal incident occurred on I-271 southbound, just south of I-480, early Wednesday morning. A pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was struck by a vehicle at approximately 1:52 a.m.
According to Macedonia Police Chief Vince Yakopovich, the victim “positioned themselves on the highway” in what appears to be a deliberate act. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and is likely to have front-end damage to their car.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s office is working to identify the victim and notify next of kin. An update is expected once this process is complete.
The Macedonia Police Department, along with the Summit Metro Crash Response Team, is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Macedonia Police at 330-468-1234.
The highway was closed until approximately 7:30 a.m. while authorities processed the scene.
