Deadly Crash Closes Route 581 in Cumberland County

Authourites have reported a tragic accident on Monday morning that shut down a section of Route 581 in Camp Hill Borough, Pennsylvania.

According to 8WGAL, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a FedEx tractor-trailer drove through a work zone and collided with a construction vehicle. Two contractor employees were inside the construction vehicle and were trapped, requiring rescue crews to extricate them.

It was gathered that both workers were transported to the hospital, and tragically, one of them has been confirmed dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released by the officials.

The officials reported that the crash occurred between Exit 3 (Route 11/Carlisle Pike) and Exit 5 (Route 15/Gettysburg/Camp Hill) in the eastbound lanes.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
