“He Should Still Be Here”: Family’s Heartbreaking Tribute to Motorcyclist Killed on M60
Andrew Peak went out for a ride on Saturday. He never made it home.
The 58-year-old was involved in a crash while riding his motorcycle on the M60 near Stockport on July 12. It happened just after 1:40 in the afternoon, between junctions 25 and 24.
Paramedics got there fast. The North West Air Ambulance landed and flew him straight to Salford Royal. He was badly hurt. For two days, doctors tried everything to keep him with us. He passed away on Monday, July 14. We were all there with him.
His family says it still doesn’t feel real.
“We’re completely broken. It all happened so quickly. One minute he was out on his bike, the next we were praying in a hospital,” they said.
“The air ambulance team… honestly, they gave us a chance to say goodbye. The staff at Salford didn’t stop. They fought for him. And we’ll always be thankful for that.”
Now, the family is raising money to support the air ambulance service that gave them those last moments.
“We thought we had more time,” they said. “He should still be here.”
