
A two-vehicle collision involving a school bus and a pickup truck occurred on February 12, 2025, at approximately 8:30 am in the Rural Municipality of Lorne, Manitoba.
According to Pembina Valley RCMP, the collision happened at the intersection of Road 28 North and Road 66 West, where the pickup truck, traveling southbound, struck the rear driver’s side of the school bus, which was heading east.
Fortunately, all 14 children on board the bus, ranging in age from kindergarten to grade 11, were evacuated safely and sustained only minor injuries. As a precaution, all students were transported to hospital, with some being taken to Winnipeg for further assessment.
The 17-year-old male driver of the pickup truck also sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from hospital.
Pembina Valley RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident, and charges under the Highway Traffic Act are pending for the driver of the pickup truck.
