Toronto police have identified a suspect in the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Lyle Pounall in Moss Park last week. Detective Sergeant Alan Bartlett announced on Friday that Dellano Robertson-Berry, 24, of Toronto is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder.
The shooting occurred on February 5, just after 8 p.m., in the area of Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East. Pounall was found suffering from a serious gunshot wound and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
According to Bartlett, the shooting was targeted, but there is no evidence to suggest that Pounall and Robertson-Berry knew each other. Robertson-Berry has no prior criminal record, and police do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
While there is no threat to public safety, police warn that Robertson-Berry is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone who sees him is urged to call 911 immediately. Robertson-Berry is described as standing five-foot-seven with a medium build.
Police are appealing to the public for assistance in the investigation. “If you were in the area of the shooting at the time, if you saw anything, if you heard anything, if you have any video of the incident, I’m encouraging you to contact the police,” Bartlett said.
