
A major accident on the A2 has brought traffic to a standstill, with drivers facing lengthy delays after a vehicle overturned near Gravesend. The coast-bound carriageway was closed following the collision, which occurred just after 7:30 a.m. between Gravesend and Rochester.
Emergency services, including Kent Police and traffic officers, are working at the scene to assist with the incident. National Highways has warned motorists to expect significant delays and advised them to take alternative routes.
The officials stated that one lane has reopened, three lanes remain closed due to an oil spillage. Highways workers are currently working to clear the spillage and restore normal traffic conditions.
Kent Police has confirmed that two cars were involved in the accident, resulting in one driver suffering a leg injury.
A diversion has been set up via the A226 to the M2 and Rochester, advising motorists to plan their routes accordingly.
