LAGOS, NIGERIA – Notorious billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, has made a shocking plea to the Lagos State High Court, seeking a plea bargain and claiming to have undergone a transformation while incarcerated.
In his application, Evans, who is currently serving a life sentence and a 14-year prison term for his crimes, expressed remorse for his actions and stated that he has acquired a teaching diploma in economics from the Yewa College of Education.
Evans claimed that he is now a teacher at the Kirikiri correctional centre and is no longer a criminal. He offered to forfeit his 14 brand new trucks to the Lagos State Government, with the proceeds to be transferred to his victims, as part of the proposed plea bargain arrangement.
The court heard that Evans had obtained a scholarship from the Federal Government of Nigeria while in prison and had undergone training in welding and metal fabrication. He is also currently studying Political Science at the National Open University of Nigeria under the Federal Government’s scholarship scheme.
Evans’ counsel, Mr. Etudo Emefo, presented copies of his client’s National Certificate in Education and project work, as well as his admission letter and student ID card from the National Open University of Nigeria.
The Lagos State Government is currently considering Evans’ application for a plea bargain, along with those of his co-defendants, Joseph Emeka, Victor Aduba, and Linus Opara.
The case has been adjourned until April 17, 2025, for a report on the applications for plea bargains.
