
Cocoa, FL – A tragic accident occurred Saturday night, claiming the life of a 76-year-old Cocoa man.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 10:52 p.m. near the intersection of Fay Boulevard and Deer Lane. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was traveling westbound in a van when it suddenly veered off the road for unknown reasons.
The van careened out of control, striking several mailboxes, a lattice fence, and a parked car in a driveway before crashing into a house. The vehicle, still running, then collided with two vehicles inside the garage.
Fortunately, the residents of the home were not injured. However, the elderly driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities are exploring the possibility that the victim may have suffered a medical episode. The Florida Highway Patrol is working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the deadly accident.
