A 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly beating his 25-year-old girlfriend to death. The incident occurred on February 21, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m. in the Ijedodo, Isheri-Osun area of Lagos.
According to the police, a neighbor witnessed Adebayo assaulting his girlfriend inside his apartment. The motive for the attack remains unclear. Shortly after the altercation, Adebayo reportedly screamed for help, and when neighbors arrived, they found the victim lying unconscious on the bed with visible marks of violence on her body.
The victim was rushed to a hospital in Ijegun, where she was confirmed dead on arrival. Police detectives were dispatched to the scene of the crime and the hospital, and the body was transferred to a morgue in Yaba for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that justice will be served. This disturbing case has highlighted the growing concern over domestic violence and the need for increased awareness and preventive measures.
