A Lagos Magistrate Court has discharged and acquitted Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and Mohbad’s manager, Opere Babatunde, of any involvement in the death of singer Aloba Oladimeji, popularly known as Mohbad. This ruling was made on February 25, 2025, after Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje determined that they had no case to answer regarding Mohbad’s demise.
Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023. Initially, Naira Marley and others were accused of frustrating and assaulting Mohbad, leading to depression and ultimately his death ¹. However, the court has now cleared them of any wrongdoing.
Instead, the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) Lagos will prosecute Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, and Ayobami Sadiq, one of Mohbad’s friends, for reckless and negligent acts. They will face charges under Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
