Houston Police Officers Injured in Crash, Lucky to Escape Without Broken Bones
A dramatic crash on Sunday morning involving two Houston Police Department officers ended with a fortunate outcome, as both officers escaped without suffering any broken bones. The incident occurred on the IH-610 North Loop at Ella around 1 a.m., when the two North Shepard Division officers responded to a call to assist another officer.
According to officials, the officers attempted to make a U-turn on the feeder road but misjudged the maneuver, striking one of the pillars. Initial assessments suggested that one of the officers may have suffered multiple broken bones, but fortunately, all X-rays came back clear.
Both officers, a man and woman who are just 20 days shy of their first anniversary with the department, were transported to Houston-area hospitals for treatment. Lt. JP Horelica with HPD confirmed that the officers only suffered bad sprains, considering it a lucky escape.
This incident serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty.
