
After the third heist that occurred early this morning in Campbell’s Bay, Outaouais, a pursuit occurred on Highway 50 close to Lachute, where police officers tried to stop the robbery by using a spiked carpet, according to information released in a press release this afternoon.
The driver reportedly struck a patrol car and another vehicle on Highway 50 around kilometer 288 at approximately 7:07 a.m.
13 minutes after the SQ’s ended the pursuit, the evading automobile collided with two other vehicles on Blainville’s Route 117.
The driver was critically injured and rushed to the hospital, where his condition was deemed critical. According to the BEI, the people inside the other cars who were a part of the collision were just slightly hurt.
The Montreal Police Department has been tasked with conducting a parallel criminal investigation.
The accident is being investigated by the Independent Investigations Bureau (BEI).
