A heart-wrenching tragedy has struck a family in Nashville, Tennessee, after Charles “Alan” Fountain, 65, was fatally struck by a drunk driver while riding his electric scooter to a nearby store.
The incident occurred just 10 days ago, and the family is now speaking out to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and to seek justice for their loved one.
According to Metro Nashville Police, Alan had parked his truck at a truck stop on Old Hickory Boulevard near I-24 and was riding his electric scooter to a nearby store when he was struck by Karla Guadalupe Armendariz, who did not stop.
Armendariz, who was driving a gray Toyota Tundra pickup, fled the scene but later turned herself in, admitting to drinking six beers and taking a prescription drug before the crash.
Alan’s daughter, Karen Hawkins, expressed her heartbreak and frustration, stating that her father was left to die in the street. However, she also extended gratitude to the strangers who tried to help.
The family hopes that sharing Alan’s story will encourage others to think twice before driving under the influence. Hawkins emphasized that harsher consequences need to be imposed on those who drive while intoxicated.
As a final tribute to her father, Hawkins revealed that Alan, who loved to fish, will be buried at sea. The family seeks justice and hopes that Alan’s story will serve as a reminder for all to be responsible behind the wheel.
