
Driver Rescued from Wreckage After Pickup Truck Crashes on Hutchinson River Parkway
A dramatic rescue unfolded on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale, New York, on Wednesday, March 19, after a pickup truck crashed and flipped over, leaving the driver seriously injured.
According to Westchester County Police, the accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on the southbound side of the parkway, just south of Mamaroneck Road. A 911 caller reported seeing a heavily damaged pickup truck off the roadway, prompting emergency responders to rush to the scene.
Police found the vehicle had severe damage, and the driver, a man in his 20s, was trapped inside. Firefighters from the Scarsdale Fire Department, assisted by the County Police Emergency Services Unit, rescued the driver from the wreckage.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Westchester Medical Center by the Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Patrol Services Division, Accident Investigation Team, and General Investigations Unit. The incident blocked the right lane of the southbound parkway near Exit 11 to Weaver Street, causing delays as authorities conducted theirĀ investigation.
