
A fatal Tesla crash occurred on the Upper East Side, shutting down the FDR Drive on Tuesday morning. According to initial reports, a white Tesla was speeding northbound when it hit a guardrail and caught fire around 3 a.m. near the 71st Street exit.
The officials stated that both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 26-year-old male passenger was transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Cornell Burn Unit, where he has since been stabilized.
The identity of the diseased is not yet released by the Authorities.
The crash caused significant traffic delays, with the FDR Drive closed for hours. Northbound lanes reopened around 8:30 a.m. after the closure at 61st Street, while southbound traffic resumed just before 7:30 a.m. after being diverted at 96th Street.
