The Garifuna community is mourning the loss of renowned musician Aurelio Martínez, who was among 12 people killed in a plane crash off the Caribbean coast of Honduras on Monday night. Five others were injured in the crash.
Martínez, 55, was a celebrated singer, guitarist, composer, and percussionist from Honduras. He was born in the Garifuna community of Plaplaya and began playing music at a young age.
