
A 76-year-old pedestrian lost his life in a tragic accident on the A96 near Colpy on Friday. The collision, involving a blue Ford Fiesta, occurred around 7:15 am on the Huntly to Inverurie Road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where the pedestrian was pronounced dead. The 26-year-old female driver of the Ford Fiesta escaped uninjured.
Following the crash, the A96 has reopened. Sergeant Sarah Ritchie of the North East Road Policing Unit offered condolences to the victim’s family and urged witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Ritchie expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance at the scene and appealed for anyone with information or dash-cam footage to contact the police on 101, referencing incident number 0517 of February 21, 2025.
The police are calling on anyone with information or footage to aid their investigation into the fatal crash.
