Wrong-Way Crash on I-4 in Seminole County Leaves One Dead, Seven Injured
Authorities have reported a fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 4 in Seminole County, Florida, early Saturday morning that resulted in the death of an Orlando man and injured seven others, including two young children.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 3:57 a.m. near mile marker 94, close to the exits for State Road 434 in Wekiwa Springs.
The FHP reported that a 2012 Honda Accord, driven by the 36-year-old Orlando man, was traveling eastbound in the westbound center lane when it collided with a 2025 Honda Odyssey carrying five occupants from Michigan.
The impact caused the Accord to strike the median guardrail, while the Odyssey entered the outside lane and was subsequently struck by a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
The Orlando man was pronounced dead at the hospital, with authorities unsure whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The occupants of the Odyssey, including a 35-year-old man, two women (59 and 33 years old), and two children (1 and 3 years old), suffered various injuries. The man and women sustained serious injuries, while the children’s injuries were minor.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 58-year-old Port Orange man, was uninjured and remained at the scene.
The westbound lanes of I-4 were closed for several hours, with traffic being redirected off the highway.
