Triple Fatal Crash on I-5 in Scatter Creek Caused by Wrong-Way Driver
A fatal collision on Interstate 5 in Scatter Creek, south of Olympia, has claimed the lives of three people, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
The crash occurred early Sunday morning when a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes struck a car head-on near the Scatter Creek rest area.
A third vehicle, unable to stop in time, collided with the two cars, blocking all northbound lanes on I-5. Fortunately, the driver of the third car was not injured or impaired.
WSP Trooper John Dattilo confirmed that the three fatalities resulted from the initial collision caused by the wrong-way driver.
The Washington State Patrol and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) are currently investigating the collision. Traffic was diverted to the rest area as authorities worked to clear the scene.
This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
