GOODFIELD – A single-vehicle accident on I-74 Eastbound in Woodford County has resulted in the death of one person. The accident occurred early Monday morning, with authorities receiving the first call at approximately 4:55 a.m.
The vehicle hit a guardrail and then the overpass of the Goodfield exit before coming to rest in the roadway. A second vehicle collided with the first vehicle, which was stopped in the road. The occupant of the first vehicle, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupant of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. I-74 Eastbound is currently closed to traffic, with an estimated reopening time of 9:30 a.m.
Traffic is being diverted off at the Goodfield exit and allowed to re-enter I-74 Eastbound.
The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident, with no further information available at this time.
