A devastating accident occurred on Autoroute 20 East near Sainte-Julie on Friday morning, leaving a voiture completely destroyed and engulfed in flames. Despite the severity of the crash, the chauffeur and passenger miraculously escaped with their lives, along with the chauffeur of the heavy object involved.
The accident happened at around 10 am, near kilometer 102, when a camion-benne collided with the voiture, causing extensive damage. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the voiture crushed and the camion’s front wheels lifted off the ground.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, providing timely medical assistance to the three victimes. The chauffeur and passenger of the voiture suffered significant injuries but are not feared for their lives. The camion driver was also taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries.
A section of Autoroute 20 has been closed to traffic to allow a specialist in accident scene reconstruction from the Sûreté du Québec to conduct a thorough investigation.
The incident has left many in shock, including a veteran police officer who witnessed the scene, stating, “C’est inacceptable que personne n’ait été tué. La voiture est complètement accordéonée.”
