Driver Charged in Deadly Brooklyn Crash to Face Judge
The 32-year-old Brooklyn woman accused of running down and killing a mother and her two daughters in a horrific crash over the weekend is set to face a judge on Wednesday. Miriam Yarimi, the driver of the Audi, is expected to be arraigned at Brooklyn Criminal Court on charges including three counts of manslaughter and three counts of criminally negligent homicide.
The crash occurred on Saturday afternoon when Yarimi’s vehicle crashed into an Uber, then into a family trying to walk across the street, before finally flipping over. The mother and her two daughters were killed, and their bodies were flown to Israel for burial. A 4-year-old boy, who was also part of the family, remains in critical condition.
A family who was injured in the crash is still recovering from their ordeal. 12-year-old Shakhzod, who survived the crash along with his two siblings and their mother, is experiencing back pain and nightmares. His mother is struggling with depression, and his little sister has been experiencing headaches.
Yarimi’s driving record has come under scrutiny, with authorities reporting that she had 93 violations, $10,000 in unpaid fines, and a suspended license at the time of the crash. It is unclear why she was behind the wheel.
