Ottawa, Canada – In its latest Express Entry draw, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 7,146 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency on February 19, 2025. This draw is part of the government’s 2025 Express Entry initiative, aimed at managing Canada’s immigration system.
The draw focused on two categories: French-language competency and provincial nominations. A total of 6,500 French-speaking applicants were invited to apply for permanent residency, with the lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score being 428. This draw is part of a scheme that prioritizes individuals with French language proficiency.
In addition to the French-language category, ITAs were also granted to individuals with provincial nominations. The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary means for processing permanent residency applications through economic immigration programs.
Applicants who received an ITA have 60 days to submit a full application for permanent residency. The current processing time for Express Entry applications is approximately five months.
The CRS score is a points-based system that evaluates applicants based on characteristics such as education, work experience, and language proficiency. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residency in regular draws.
In the event of a tie, the tie-breaking rule is applied, ranking candidates according to the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles. Earlier submissions receive invitations first.
This latest draw demonstrates the Canadian government’s efforts to manage the country’s immigration system and promote French language proficiency.
