Three Teens Killed in Route 55 Crash in Gloucester County, New Jersey
A fatal car crash on Route 55 in Gloucester County, New Jersey, has claimed the lives of three teenagers, leaving a community in shock and grief.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the crash occurred on Sunday afternoon, around 4:15 p.m., in the northbound lanes of Route 55, just before Exit 48 in Glassboro.
The accident involved a Honda passenger vehicle, driven by 17-year-old Brenden Cary, which collided with another Honda CRV. Cary lost control of his car, crossing over the right lane and onto the shoulder, where it struck a disabled Dodge minivan.
Tragically, Cary and two other teenagers, including 19-year-old Dominic Reyes, a former student of the Delsea Regional School District, were killed in the accident. A 17-year-old passenger in the Honda passenger vehicle also died, but has not been identified.
Three juvenile passengers in the Dodge van suffered minor injuries, while the driver, a 36-year-old woman, was seriously hurt.
The Delsea Regional School District has confirmed the identities of two of the victims and has expressed its deepest condolences to the families. Superintendent Fran Ciociola described the loss as “two young lives far too soon.”
Grief counselors will be available to support the community, and students gathered in the school parking lot on Monday to pay their respects.
The New Jersey State Police is leading the investigation into the crash. The road was closed for several hours before reopening around 8 p.m. on Sunday.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
