
Man Fatally Shot Near Downtown Oak Park
A fatal shooting occurred early Friday morning near downtown Oak Park, leaving one man dead. At 1:23 a.m. on April 4, police responded to reports of shots fired in the 600 block of South Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m. The victim’s identity has not been released.
A witness reported seeing five people fleeing the scene on foot, all wearing black clothing. Police detained five individuals matching this description – three juveniles and two adults – who were seen running eastbound on Pleasant Street from Cuyler Avenue. They were taken to the Oak Park Police Department for questioning.
No weapons have been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing with assistance from the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
The Oak Park Police Department is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
