Deadly Semi-Truck Crash on I-5 Causes Major Disruptions
Tacoma, WA – A devastating crash on I-5 near the 84th Street exit early Tuesday morning resulted in a fatality and significant traffic disruptions. According to the Washington State Patrol, the semi-truck driver lost control, crashed into a highway barrier, and tragically died at the scene.
The impact sparked a massive fire that engulfed the entire semi-truck, fueled by the cargo of appliances, including lawn mowers. Firefighters from West Pierce, Tacoma, and Central Pierce faced challenges in reaching the scene due to blocked lanes, which delayed water delivery.
A total of 28 firefighters battled the intense blaze, using 5,000 gallons of water to bring it under control. The incident caused major traffic disruptions, but details on road closures and traffic rerouting were not immediately available.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and officials are working to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow.
