A Lagos-based medical doctor, Femi Olaleye, has allegedly absconded to the United Kingdom, sparking outrage from the Executive Director of the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence, Gbenga Soloki. Olaleye was initially sentenced to life imprisonment in 2023 for defiling a minor, but the Court of Appeal overturned the conviction in November 2024.
According to Soloki, Olaleye fled Nigeria immediately after the Lagos State Government filed an appeal against his acquittal at the Supreme Court. The medical doctor has also launched a media campaign against his estranged wife, Mrs. Aderemi Olaleye, accusing her, the judiciary, and the police of bias.
Soloki revealed that Olaleye’s lawyer, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro, has withdrawn from representing him, stating that his engagement ended at the Appeal Court. Furthermore, Soloki alleged that Olaleye has hired a blogger to smear his wife’s reputation, falsely claiming that she has taken over his house and evaded arrest.
The ownership of the house is currently a subject of legal proceedings initiated by Olaleye himself. Soloki dismissed the allegations, stating that Olaleye has shown no concern for his family, except in claiming ownership of the property.
Soloki described Olaleye as a “serial pedophile,” alleging that he routinely drugged and raped his clients. He also claimed that video evidence exists to support these allegations. Additionally, Soloki stated that Olaleye was involved in multiple cases of sexual abuse and rape in the UK while working at a well-known hospital.
Mrs. Aderemi Fagbemi Olaleye has indicated her intention to seek redress in court, maintaining that the truth will eventually prevail.
The Lagos State Government has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn Olaleye’s acquittal.
