
Person Struck and Killed by Metro-North Train in Greenwich, Connecticut
A tragic incident occurred early Tuesday morning in Greenwich, Connecticut, when a person was struck and killed by a Metro-North train traveling on the New Haven Line.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. when the train, carrying approximately 50 passengers, hit “an unauthorized person on the tracks.”
Fortunately, no one on the train was injured, and passengers were transferred to another train around 6:30 a.m. However, the person struck by the train succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time. The incident caused significant delays on the New Haven Line, with eastbound trains skipping stops at Rye, Port Chester, and Greenwich until just before 7 a.m.
The MTA police department has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding theĀ tragicĀ event.
