McKinney Police Mourn Loss of K-9 Hero Ozzy
McKinney, TX – The McKinney Police Department is grieving the loss of their beloved K-9 officer, Ozzy, who was fatally shot while assisting in a response to a shooting incident.
The incident occurred at the Red Roof Inn off Central Expressway, where officers were attempting to apprehend a male suspect who had barricaded himself in a room. A woman had been shot prior to the officers’ arrival.
As officers attempted to coax the suspect out of the room, they deployed Ozzy to assist in the apprehension. However, when the suspect revealed a gun, officers were forced to engage, resulting in the fatal shooting of the suspect.
Tragically, Ozzy was also struck by gunfire during the exchange and succumbed to his injuries.
The McKinney Police Department is mourning the loss of their loyal and courageous K-9 hero, Ozzy, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
