
Fatal Crash Follows Police Pursuit in Buchanan, Michigan
A high-speed police chase in Buchanan, Michigan, ended in tragedy early Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of the fleeing driver.
According to authorities, the incident began at approximately 2:45 a.m. when a vehicle was spotted traveling in the wrong lane on Front Street. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled at a high rate of speed, turning south onto Redbud Trail.
The driver lost control of the vehicle as it crossed railroad tracks, causing it to go airborne and crash into a house on S. Redbud Trail near Hobart Street. The vehicle also struck a tree before coming to rest.
Fortunately, no one inside the residence was injured. However, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released pending notification of family.
The Michigan State Police have been requested to conduct an investigation into the crash, with their Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team leading the inquiry.
