GOLDEN, CO – A devastating multi-vehicle crash has shut down Highway 93 in both directions, leaving at least two people dead and several others injured.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involving four vehicles occurred around 6:15 a.m. Thursday near milepost two, just north of Golden.
The Colorado State Patrol confirmed that at least two people were transported to the hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, both victims succumbed to their injuries.
A Facebook comment from Donna Robbins revealed that one of the deceased was her coworker, saying “Both drivers have passed. One is my co-worker. It’s awful.”
The highway remains closed in both directions from Table Mountain to 58th Avenue, with the closure expected to last several hours.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Northbound traffic can use Highway 58 to McIntyre or Easley Road, while southbound traffic is being rerouted to West 58th Avenue.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
