COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A devastating car crash on I-270 South has resulted in the closure of all southbound lanes at US-33. The accident occurred at approximately 1:47 a.m. and involved two vehicles.
According to Hilliard police, a sedan collided with an SUV, causing the SUV to hit a wall, flip over, and come to rest. The sedan continued off the roadway, struck a tree, and stopped.
Tragically, the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was transported to Riverside Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The southbound lanes of I-270 between US-33 and Cemetery Road remain closed, with no estimated time for reopening. Motorists are advised to use Riverside Drive as an alternate route.
The Hilliard police department is investigating the incident, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
