Community Mourns Loss of 13-Year-Old Kennedy Smith After ATV Accident
McKenzie, AL – A small town in Alabama is coming together to support the family of 13-year-old Kennedy Smith, who tragically passed away after an ATV accident.
Kennedy, a 7th grader, was babysitting two young children when the accident occurred. Despite wearing a helmet, Kennedy suffered severe injuries when the ATV flipped over and landed on top of her.
She was airlifted to USA Health Children’s and Women’s Hospital, where she was pronounced brain dead. Her parents, Justin and Taylor Smith, made the difficult decision to donate Kennedy’s organs, which will be harvested today.
An Honor Walk will be held at the hospital at 2 pm to pay tribute to Kennedy’s life and generosity. Family, friends, and medical staff will line the halls as Kennedy is wheeled to the operating room.
Kennedy’s parents are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their daughter. “I need to be patient,” Justin said. “I need to remember that I’ll see my daughter again.”
The community is rallying around the Smith family, offering prayers and condolences. Kennedy’s love for life, her kindness, and her faith have left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
A memorial service is pending, and the family has requested prayers at 2 pm today.
