
St. Louis, MO – A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a MetroLink train in downtown St. Louis late Saturday night.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a call at South 14th Street and Clark Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive man in his 50s or 60s on the train tracks. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the man was in an unauthorized area and attempted to walk across the tracks, stumbling and falling onto the tracks before being struck by an eastbound MetroLink train.
The incident caused a temporary disruption in MetroLink service, with the Union Station and Stadium MetroLink stations closed until after midnight. Metro Transit released a statement confirming the incident and expressing condolences to the victim’s family.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the incident.
