West Ham Striker Michail Antonio Reveals Near-Death Experience in Ferrari Crash
West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has spoken publicly about his harrowing experience in a car crash last December, which left him with a badly broken leg and fortunate to be alive.
In an interview, Antonio recounted the accident, which occurred when he crashed his Ferrari into a tree in Epping Forest during a storm. The 34-year-old admitted that he has no memory of the incident.
Antonio’s injuries were severe, with his femur bone shattered in four places. He underwent keyhole surgery and had a pole inserted into his thigh with four bolts to aid the healing process.
Despite being ruled out for the rest of the season, Antonio is determined to revive his career. He has already made significant progress in his recovery, with doctors estimating that it will take between six and 12 months for his leg to heal properly.
The West Ham record Premier League goalscorer expressed his gratitude for a second chance at life and is driven to return to the pitch. Antonio’s resilience and mental strength have been key factors in his successful career, and he is confident that he will overcome this setback.
“I was one of the quickest at West Ham, and my body wasn’t the body of a 34-year-old before I had the accident,” Antonio said. “I can still be sharp and still do the business. People have always doubted me, but my mental strength is something I’ve always believed in.”
