Parma Police Seek Felony Warrants for Man Who Led Them on High-Speed Chase
A high-speed chase through Parma, Ohio, on Monday evening has led to the pursuit of felony warrants for a man who allegedly fled a traffic stop, causing two police cruisers to crash and injuring one officer.
According to Parma police, the incident began around 7:30 p.m. on State Road, where officers attempted to stop a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu for an equipment violation. The driver, however, sped off at a high rate of speed, heading west on Torrington Avenue.
Police gave chase, with speeds reaching over 70 mph, as the suspect led them on a wild pursuit through the streets of Parma. The chase continued onto Ridge Road, where assisting officers attempted to deploy spike strips near the Brookpark Road intersection.
During the chase, the officers who initiated the traffic stop crashed their cruiser, resulting in minor injuries for one of the officers. Another marked police cruiser also crashed en route to the scene and became disabled, but no injuries were reported.
Parma police are now seeking felony warrants for the suspect, who remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.
