The attack happened around 10:30 am local time, prompting a large-scale police response.
According to authorities, the suspect, a 24-year-old Afghan man, was arrested shortly after the incident. Notably, the Bavarian Interior Minister revealed that the suspect had a history of drug and theft-related offenses.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car accelerated suddenly, hitting pedestrians near a demonstration organized by the Verdi service workers’ union.
