Four Dead in Manhattan Office Shooting; Gunman Identified
NEW YORK, NY — July 29, 2025 — A shooting at 345 Park Ave. in Midtown left four people dead Monday evening. The gunman also died at the scene.
Police identified the shooter as Shane Devon Tamura, 27, of Nevada. He entered the lobby with an M4-style rifle, opened fire, then went to the 33rd floor and shot more victims before killing himself.
One of the victims was Didarul Islam, 36, working security in the building. Two women and another man were also killed. One person is still in the hospital. Four more were hurt while escaping.
Tamura had a mental health history, according to police. A motive hasn’t been confirmed.
Officers found his black BMW parked outside. Inside were magazines, ammo, a revolver, and medication with his name on it.
The car was tracked through Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, and into New Jersey before arriving in New York hours before the shooting.
Tenants in the tower include Blackstone, KPMG, Rudin, and the NFL. Video showed Tamura leaving the car, entering the building, and firing as he walked in.
An NFL employee was seriously injured. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league is supporting that person’s family.
Tamura had gone to high school in California. Former teammates said he played football, kept to himself, and didn’t show violent behavior. They said they’re shocked by the news.
