
Dozens Hurt After Driver Plows Into East Hollywood Crowd; Gunman Still on the Run
LOS ANGELES, CA – What started as a regular summer night turned into chaos early Saturday when a car slammed into a crowd in East Hollywood, injuring over 30 people—some critically.
The incident happened just after 2 a.m. near The Vermont music venue. According to police, officers were responding to reports of gunfire when they arrived to find a mangled crash scene — and a badly injured driver being beaten by bystanders.

LAPD says the man behind the wheel had also been shot. He was pulled from the wreckage and rushed into surgery in critical condition.
“It was chaos,” said Officer Jay Chaves. “People were hurt, others were helping, and some were trying to go after the driver.”
30 Injured, Including Driver
The Los Angeles Fire Department said 30 people were evaluated for injuries. Among them:
– 7 were in critical condition
– 6 had serious injuries
– 10 were treated for less severe wounds
– 7 others declined hospital care
More than 120 firefighters and medics worked the scene, treating victims one-on-one before sending them to nearby hospitals.
Shooter Still at Large
Police confirmed that the shooter — who allegedly opened fire before or during the crash — had not been found. He’s described as a bald Hispanic male, about 5’9”, 180 lbs, wearing a blue jersey, and possibly armed with a silver revolver.
City Responds
“This is a heartbreaking tragedy,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “We’re keeping everyone in East Hollywood in our hearts today. A full investigation is underway.”
Police say the cause of the crash is still unknown, and previous reports about what triggered the incident were incorrect.
