University of Pittsburgh Mourns Loss of Freshman Cornerback Mason Alexander
A tragic car accident claimed the life of University of Pittsburgh freshman cornerback Mason Alexander, 18, on Saturday night in his hometown of Fishers, Indiana.
According to reports, Alexander was a passenger in a 2016 BMW that attempted to pass another vehicle on a two-lane road. The car swerved to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle and ultimately struck a tree.
Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi expressed his deepest condolences, stating, “I received a call this morning that no parent, teacher, or coach ever wants to get – the news of the sudden loss of a young and promising life.”
Alexander had enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh in January, after graduating early from high school. The university’s football program is in shock, and the community is coming together to support Alexander’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches during this difficult time.
The university has extended its condolences to all those affected by Alexander’s passing.
