
Tragic Loss: Brendan J. Donovan Passes Away at 24
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Brendan J. Donovan, a young man from Reading, Massachusetts, who tragically lost his life in an accident on May 4, 2025. Brendan was just 24 years old.
A Cherished Son and Brother
Brendan is survived by his loving parents, Brian F. and Gail M. (Crosby) Donovan, and his devoted siblings, Kate M. Donovan and Sean E. Donovan, his inseparable twin brother. He was also adored by his grandparent, Richard J. Crosby, Sr., and deeply loved by his extended family and friends.

A Life of Adventure and Friendship
Brendan was born on August 10, 2000, and grew up in a close-knit family. He attended Reading public schools and graduated from Reading High School in 2019. During his high school years, Brendan was an exceptional athlete and champion, serving as captain of the Reading High School Hockey and Golf teams. His passion for sports was infectious, and he was known for his humility and leadership.

After high school, Brendan attended Keene State College, where he developed a passion for the mountains and became an avid skier and snowboarder. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Administration and worked in the field most recently at Phillips Academy in Andover.

A Love for Golf
Brendan’s love for golf was evident from a young age, and he spent countless hours on the fairways of Meadow Brook Golf Club. He was a Junior Club Champion and enjoyed competitive golf with his brother Sean and friend Liam.
A Kind and Compassionate Soul
Brendan will be remembered by family and friends as a humble, kind, and pure-hearted soul who expected nothing of others and was simply motivated to be present with others. He had a wide circle of friends and was known for his kindness and compassion.
Visitation and Funeral Services
A visitation will be held for Brendan at the Douglass, Edgerley, and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street), Reading on Friday, May 9, from 3-7 pm. Funeral services and burial are private.
