Caleb Wesley Death-Obituary: Tributes Flow for Six-Year-Old Boy Killed in Alleged Hit-Run Crash
A six-year-old boy, Caleb Wesley, has tragically lost his life in an alleged hit-run crash in regional Victoria. The incident occurred yesterday morning in Teesdale, near Geelong, as Caleb walked to a school bus stop with his two older siblings.
Despite paramedics’ and witnesses’ best efforts to save him, Caleb succumbed to his injuries. An 84-year-old local woman was questioned by police over the death and has been released pending further inquiries.
Police are investigating witness claims that the woman stopped briefly at the scene before driving away. A floral tribute near the collision site has been growing, with flowers and soft toys surrounding a sign into town.
Covenant College Principal Joshua McEwen paid tribute to Caleb, describing him as “inquisitive, friendly, empathetic, and well-loved.” McEwen remembered Caleb as a curious and enthusiastic learner who loved reading books and exploring the world around him.
The school community has come together to support Caleb’s family, with McEwen asking the wider community to keep them in their prayers. “We are committed to ongoing support and care for Caleb’s family and our school community in this difficult time,” he said.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, with witnesses urged to come forward.
