Teenager Shot While Waiting in Car in Wheeling, Illinois
A 19-year-old man was shot Monday night while sitting in his car in the Colonial Townhomes subdivision in Wheeling, Illinois.
According to Wheeling police, the incident occurred around 10:59 p.m. in the 800 block of McHenry Road. The victim was waiting for a friend to leave a nearby apartment when several individuals exited a vehicle that had pulled up next to his car.
One of the individuals fired several shots into the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to Glenbrook Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, but initial reports suggest that the victim was simply waiting to pick up a friend and was not targeted intentionally.
The Wheeling Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are canvassing the area for further evidence and leads.
