Kelowna, BC – A devastating snowmobile accident occurred at Hunters Range on Friday, leaving a young woman in critical condition with head trauma and on life support.
According to Kimberly Love Lytle, the victim’s boyfriend’s mother, the accident happened while the couple, Alix and Amanda, were on vacation. Lytle took to Facebook to request prayers for the couple, saying, “Please keep Alix and Amanda in your prayers.”
Fortunately, three members of the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) team were in the area snowmobiling and quickly responded to the accident. Two COSAR members with advanced medical training provided immediate care to the injured rider, while a third team member placed the 911 call and coordinated the rescue efforts.
The COSAR team’s swift response and medical expertise were instrumental in stabilizing the rider until evacuation. The team built two fires to keep the victim warm while waiting for the evacuation toboggan.
COSAR expressed gratitude to the sledders at the main cabin who donated clothing and blankets for the victim, as well as Vernon Search & Rescue for transporting the rider down the hill.
The victim’s current condition remains unknown, but the community is rallying around the couple, offering prayers and support during this difficult time.
