
Targeted Shootings in Newton County, Georgia: Suspect in Custody
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of targeted shootings that occurred on April 11, resulting in two fatalities and one critical injury.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting at the Walmart on Salem Road. The store was closed, and only employees were present. The suspect, a Walmart employee, allegedly exited the building, retrieved a firearm, and returned inside, where they fatally shot an acquaintance.
The suspect then encountered a second acquaintance outside the store, shooting them and leaving them in critical condition. Later, the suspect forced entry into a residence on Emerson Trail, where they fatally shot another acquaintance.
Investigation Update
Authorities confirm this was a targeted attack, with the suspect specifically targeting individuals they knew. The suspect has been apprehended in South Carolina and is in custody.
