
Person Killed in Train-Pedestrian Incident Near Downtown Waukesha
A fatal incident occurred on Wednesday when a person was struck and killed by a train on the edge of downtown Waukesha. According to Waukesha Police Capt. Dan Baumann, the incident happened along the tracks behind Trackside Car Wash, near the Main and Hartwell crossings.
The victim’s identity and circumstances surrounding the incident have not been released, pending an investigation by the Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The incident caused traffic disruptions, with railroad crossings at East Main Street, Hartwell Avenue, Arcadian Avenue, East Broadway, and North East Avenue closed temporarily.
Canadian National railroad officials and authorities remained on the scene to investigate. Motorists were advised to divert to alternative routes until the tracks were cleared.
