
17-Year-Old Killed, Two Injured in Single-Car Crash on I-96 in Michigan
Williamston, MI. – A tragic single-car crash on I-96 southwest of Williamston has claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy from Troy, Michigan. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Saturday, leaving two others injured.
According to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, the sedan was traveling westbound on I-96 near Meridian Road when it veered off the road, rolled multiple times in the median, and ejected two rear passengers before coming to rest in the eastbound lanes.
Four occupants from Troy, Michigan, were in the vehicle. The 17-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The 22-year-old driver sustained serious injuries, while a 20-year-old passenger suffered critical injuries but is now in stable condition. One passenger remained uninjured.
The eastbound lanes of I-96 were temporarily closed until just after 11 a.m. to facilitate emergency response and investigation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, but preliminary reports suggest that alcohol or drugs are unlikely to be factors.
