ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Early Wednesday morning, a wrong-way collision in south St. Louis County claimed one life and injured two more.
The head-on collision occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday at the ramp connecting southbound Interstate 270 to Interstate 55.
The wrong-way motorist was declared deceased at the scene, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Both the other driver in the collision and a passenger in the wrong-way vehicle were transported to the hospital for medical attention.
As of Wednesday morning, it was unclear how badly they had been hurt.
While emergency personnel worked at the scene of the fatal collision, all lanes of the ramp connecting I-270 and I-55 were blocked for hours. The ramp was reopened at around 5:30 in the morning.
