MONROE COUNTY, MI – A multi-vehicle crash sparked a natural gas leak, forcing the evacuation of two homes in a manufactured housing community Monday evening.
The incident occurred at Meadowbrook Estates, near the intersection of West Seventh Street and South Telegraph Road. Authorities said a vehicle collided with another car and two homes, causing the gas leak.
Emergency crews from the Monroe Township Fire Department responded to the scene, along with representatives from Michigan Gas Utilities, DTE Energy, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Residents of the affected homes were evacuated as a precaution. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
